Bloomsbury Quarter Construction: May 2025 Update (Copy)

Dear Neighbour,

We are delighted to announce that the first of the two large projects at Bloomsbury Quarter achieved practical completion on Tuesday 20 May.  

This is a major milestone and testament to all the hard work by the main contractor StructureTone and their supply chain, supported by the owner’s own team.  Snagging works will continue until the end of May, ensuring that the project is finished to the highest quality possible.  The completed building is now being run by the managing agents, Savills.

Phase Two Commencement

We can confirm that a construction contract for the second major project (at 31 Southampton Row) was completed on 16 May, with works on site having already started prior to that under a pre-construction services agreement.  

StructureTone are in possession of this building, which is fully vacant, and over the next year they will undertake another major transformation, as they have done on the other side of Sicilian Avenue.  

This work will involve major structural alterations, opening up of the floor plates to create modern office space and larger, more modern retail units, as well as external repairs. The project is due to complete in June 2026.

Construction logistics will remain largely as at present with a pit lane on Southampton Row, but with the western side of Sicilian Avenue opened up for day-to-day pedestrian use, other than when closed for occasional crane lifts.  The crane on Sicilian Avenue is due to be removed by the end of 2025.

General Working Hours:

In line with Camden Council policy, our normal working hours are:

·       Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm

·       Saturday, 8am – 1pm

·       No works will be undertaken on Sundays or public holidays.
